Hi, my name is Robert J. McCarter, and this is my blog. I am a professional programmer, photographer (occasionally paid, so I guess semi-pro), fractal artist (created a video and sold some prints, so semi-pro again), and writer (yet to be paid, so amateur).

Hey dude,
I just want to let you know that Light Tones video you made is awesome. I found a copy in a random box of videos a few years ago and I love it. Sometimes I put it on after a long day and it helps chill me out. Things have been crazy lately and I’ve had that video on everyday before bedtime, it really helps a lot. Thanks.
I’ve actually had it on enough lately that I decided to look it up online to find out where it came from. My search brought me here. I saw this ‘Leave a Reply’ and I decided to do just that.
Part of the reason why I like the video is because I’m (kind of) an artist and I really like the colors and the imagery. I was wondering, how did you do all that? Some of the detail was really cool and interesting to me, and I’d love to try it myself.
If you have time to reply that’d be cool, if not, thanks and good journey, brotha!
Tony,
Thanks for stopping by, that is really nice to hear.
The short answer is that the images are fractals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractal). I wrote customer software to create the animations, and put it all together in Adobe Premiere.
I few years ago I converted LightTones to DVD. It’s just a raw conversion without fancy menus, but the colors look even better. Since your loving it, I’d be happy to send you a copy. Go to my Contact Me page (http://notabug.net/contact-me/) and leave me your name and address. If you live in the US, I’ll send it right off.
Robert,
Just browsing the web-sites of fellow 100 Stories for Queensland authors. Could you please tell me where the photo of the beautiful sunset you have at the top of your site was taken?
I am currently freezing in Canberra (-5 last night) and I think I should visit somewhere like that! Or at least dream about it.
Thanks for stopping by! That picture is of sunset over Cranberry Pond, which is in Rochester, New York, right off of Lake Ontario.
They have fabulous sunsets there.
